At a very young age I always knew I wanted to pursue something in the medical field. I wanted to be the best dang veterinarian in the world! I loved reading books and (actual) encyclopedias with anything and everything animal related 😂🐱🐶

Fast forward a few years later that little girl had a shift in those dreams. My mom started nursing school when I was quite young and she would take me along to her classes – I remember spending afternoons with my mother sitting in on her lectures and looking at all the beautiful anatomy images in her textbooks and soaking it all in – I dreamed of the day I would get to wear my scrubs and be a nurse just like my mami. 👩🏽‍⚕️😍

And as unpredictable as this life is, the unthinkable happened and the strongest and smartest woman I knew almost left this world. Supraventricular Tachycardia in her early 30s TWICE – her heart had enough but my mom is a freaking warrior and fought the fight of her life and won ❤ From that day on I knew this is what I wanted to do, to help people to save them like the nurses and doctors did for my mom and gave her a second chance at life.🥰

When teenage me was just about to graduate HS and go to nursing school, I was introduced to the world of Speech-Language Pathology. I had no idea this was even a career option but I loved everything about it!! It has been my dream ever since to be a part of this amazingly selfless field.

Fast forward to now, and past the MANY hurdles life threw my way – Lo logré!- It was never a matter of if I would be able to be where I am now, it was just when. I always, ALWAYS had my sights set high and for that, I can thank my parents. My mami for being so strong and resilient and showing me the beautiful world of medicine, for being my guide and my rock and my papi for being the hardest working person I have ever known, for being an exemplary human being and the most selfless person on this planet. I proudly wear their flags, my flags on my shoulders, to honor them – their struggles and their endless love and support is why I am here! Gracias mami y papi I owe everything to you both! Now onto bigger dreams (and a doctorate at some point)!! 😉👩🏽‍🎓🎉
